Not sure how long this has been available, but it’s still great news either way. I just saw this from a message Mike Chambers posted to the FlashCoders list. The free version of the Flex SDK 2.0 is now available in the Adobe Labs.

Earlier this week, Beta 2 of Flex Builder was released, which I’ve downloaded for my Windows machine, and this weekend I was going to spend copying out the libraries needed to compile Flex 2 and AS3 on my Mac. Now I don’t have to do all that. The Flex SDK download now on Labs contains the libraries and the mxmlc compiler you’ll need to use this stuff on your Mac. The download also includes EXE files for you Windows folk.

It’s still no FlexBuilder, which hopefully isn’t too far off, but it’s still a lot better than nothing. It’ll at least save you the work of having to download the Windows files and strip out the stuff you need to compile on your Mac.

Go check it out!
