It’s been a while since I last posted, as I’ve been pretty busy with school, work, and doing some massive amounts of landscaping in my backyard. (I’m trying to take advantage of the cool weather, and get done before it starts to snow.)

Anyways, something else that’s also had my attention for the last little while is a Flash game called Battalion: Head 2 Head. Battalion is a turn-based strategy game, where each player commands their own army. As Commanding Officer, you’re in charge of issuing orders to your troops, building new units, capturing cities, and eventually destroying your opponent.

The game is similar to the series of Nintendo’s Advance Wars games, however, the big bonus here is that the game is free, and you don’t need a Game Boy or Nintendo DS to play. All you need is a web browser with Flash Player 7. Battalion is free, however, there is a premium membership you can purchase in order to gain access to more maps, more powerful “uber-units”, and the ability to create and upload your own maps.

The game is very addicting, and is pretty easy to pick up and start playing. There are a couple of tutorial levels to help you get started, and you’ll eventually learn like I did, by getting the crap kicked out of you a few times.

Also, take a second to read gotoAndPlay()’s interview with the creator of Battalion, Pany Haritatos about the creation and development of the game.

Next time you’re playing, and feel like beating up on me as well, just look for FerrisB.

(You can also earn extra points to spend on items in the game by gathering new “recruits”, so that’s a recruitment link above. If you’re against that sort of thing for some reason, here’s a standard link: http://www.urbansquall.com/
